Cheeseburgers in Paradise.  No excuses, Professor beach got FAT! 225 lbs FAT.  After years of exploring and enjoying beaches around the world it just wasn't fun anymore. No more fun because when I got to the beach I was ashamed to take off my shirt. Ever feel that way?

My last beach exploring trip to Florida really did it. I just sat in a beach chair under an umbrella. Didn't even want to swim or walk on the beach because I was just too uncomfortable in my skin. Just too much of me “in my skin”. Fast forward two months and I'm down to 205 lbs and on my way to a fit and healthy lifestyle. Cockle Shell Beach is located on the southeastern point of St. Kitts.

I never realized there was so much undeveloped land in this area until I came across Christophe Harbour.   Christophe Harbour is a 2500 acre future resort on the island’s southeastern peninsula that will include a Mandarin Oriental Hotel, some luxury real estate, a yacht harbour, a  golf course and of course, shopping!


Most of the beaches in St. Kitts are often quiet beaches, but you can find a difference at Cockleshell Bay.


Because the beaches of St. Kitts are known for their natural beauty, it helps make them popular vacation spots.  Each beach has its own personality, and it’s easy for many tourists & vacationers to enjoy all that Cockleshell Bay has to offer.

Along the water’s edge, new homesites have been started, and two villas are well on their way to completion.

The clearing of the construction site for Christophe Harbour has started at Cockle Shell Bay on the Southeast Peninsula of St. Kitts.  This project is approx 2500 acres with access to 6 beaches including Cockle Shell Beach, where the work began.

The entire project has been projected to take 10 to 15 years to be complete.  Old buildings had to be torn down so the new construction could begin.  The “new”  will include a mega yacht harbour, world class restaurants, shops, boutiques, luxury villas, two five star hotels and a championship golf course.   Much of the work on the project  has not been visible to the public.

Several consultants working behind the scenes to create this vision for St. Kitts.  Many architects, engineers and planners have put in thousands of hours.   The goal is to develop this southeastern property into successful high-end community for St. Kitts.

Beach House Cottages on Turtle Beach

Things to know about Turtle Beach:

  • Great snorkeling 20 feet off the beach.
  • Free beach chairs are available for all-day lounging,
  • A full-service bar and restaurant.
  • Enjoy watching the waves roll in from the turquoise ocean.
  • If the main bar gets too busy, slip on over to the other bar located directly on the beach.
  • A PADI dive centre with a custom dive boat is available and deep-sea fishing excursions are also an option.
  • Water taxis to Nevis that only take 15 minutes to get across the channel (or you can arrange for private charters to taxi your entire group).
  • A gift shop is located beside the restaurant and offers a variety of Turtle Beach gift wear.
  • One of the highlights of your visit to Turtle Beach is to see the many monkeys; even though they live in the wild, they are always at Turtle Beach.  Bring your camera and watch the daily feedings.  You can feed actually the monkeys by hand while sipping a cool beverage at the local Bar and Grill.
  • Every Sunday the restaurant offers a buffet lunch and a steel band, but feel free to bring your cooler and picnic lunch.
  • Light summer clothing may be worn all year.  Dress is informal, even at elegant hotels and plantation inns, though you may want to dress up a bit for a nice dinner.
  • Nudity is not permitted at any beach.
  • Swim wear or scant clothing should never be worn in towns or villages.
